The Commissioners are launching an initiative in conjunction with the Department for Enterprise to bring together Businesses owners and other stakeholders with an interest in seeing Laxey and Garff flourish.
Grants a
re available from central government to provide funding for improvements to the village and its facilities. Money can also be made available to improve the way the area is marketed as a destination for both Isle of Man residents and for visitors from further afield.
What’s needed are locally generated ideas for a way of presenting Laxey as a ‘brand’ that will attract more visitors and increase footfall throughout the Village’s businesses.
To enable this, the Department of Enterprise seek the formation of a committee of a wide range of stakeholders committed to taking Laxey forward commercially and economically.
An initial meeting at the Laxey WMI will take place on the 22nd of August at 7.00 pm, which will include a presentation of the scheme by Senior Members of the Department for Enterprise. The Commissioners encourage all interested parties to attend.
